I'm Carley Adamson and I'm one of the cofounders of Momentum Court Reporting Academy. I'm so excited to welcome you all into this adventure we call court reporting!

Just a few things about me: I'm married to Brian for 29 years this December and a mother of three, Jordan, 26, Liam, 23, and Layla, 21. I've been a court reporter for almost nine years; however, this was not my first career. Like many others, this was a second career for me. I worked as a medical transcriptionist for 17 years so that I could work from home while raising my three children. My mom was winding down her career with the US Postal Service, Dragon Voice Recognition was taking over medical transcription, and we needed something new!

Enter court reporting! We enrolled in steno machine school at the now-closed Brown College of Court Reporting in Atlanta, Georgia. We attended for two years, to the tune of $10,000 per semester, and we only reached a speed of 180 words per minute on the machine (certification speed is 225 words per minute). We had a teacher there who understood our frustration as well as the cost involved, and she recommended we switch to the voicewriting program. After a lot of back-and-forth, we switched to the voice program and never looked back. It was the best decision we could have made. While my sweet mom passed away from breast cancer before she was certified, she was able to see me become certified and I carry her with me always.

I have served on the National Verbatim Reporters Association's executive board of directors for five years as secretary, vice president, and president-elect. I served as the credentialing chair, which means I was charged with overseeing the certification testing program. I have an intricate knowledge of the process, and I'm excited to help you learn all you need to know to be successful.

‼️I LOVE what I do. I tell everyone I know about this career because what else can you do with so little time invested and come out making such great money? I've had the joy and privilege of mentoring several people who are now full-time court reporters, including our cofounder, and my nephew, Dustin McNair, and my oldest son, Jordan.

So enough about me. I'm excited to meet all of You and find out how we can best serve your needs as you begin this journey.
